In keeping with the tradition of constituting a search team for the next Vice- Chancellor when the tenure of an incumbent VC elapses, Prof. Ernest Asikong and Dr.Blessing Ntamu have been appointed to the team.
The selection of Prof Ernest Asikong and Dr Blessing Ntamu marks the completion of the Vice Chancellor’s Search Formation Team.
A statement from the public relations unit of the University of Calabar says the duo were unanimously chosen and endorsed at a meeting of the Congregation of the institution held at the Godswill Akpabio International Conference Centre.
Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Obi, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Prof Tony Eyang, noted that it was an established tradition of the Congregation to meet when the transition process into a new administration begins.
The Vice Chancellor explained that the Search Team’s responsibility is to identify and engage qualified academics from other universities, with the intent of luring them to indicate interest in the Vice Chancellor’s seat.
She clarified that the Search Team’s role is distinct from that of the Committee that will screen and interview candidates vying for the post of Vice Chancellor.
