Amb. Hart Modey Appeals to President Tinubu for Ogoja State

By Amb. Hart Modey

A clarion call to Mr President of the federal Republic of Nigeria 🇳🇬

This appeal to President Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu GCFR highlights Ogoja’s unique position. Ogoja stands as the sole remaining area among the old provinces without independent statehood. This isn’t just a call for geographical boundaries but a plea for recognition, autonomy, and identity.

Ogoja possesses the right credentials to stand independently. The region boasts a rich cultural heritage, vibrant communities, and abundant natural resources, all factors that contribute to its potential as a self-sustaining state. The people of Ogoja have expressed a need for political autonomy, offering them a chance for localized governance which can meet their specific needs more effectively than distant administrative bodies.

Recognizing Ogoja as a state promises substantial benefits. It would not only acknowledge its historical significance but also catalyze development in the region. With statehood, Ogoja could better harness its resources, attract investment, and cultivate infrastructure, ultimately improving the lives of its inhabitants. It’s about giving Ogoja the space and authority to flourish on its own terms.
