As NiDCOM concludes plans for the 2025 National Diaspora Day, the Chairman Nigerians in Diaspora Commission,Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa has unveiled plans to launch a housing platform tagged ‘Home and Abroad’that will protect diasporas trying to build houses back home from fraud.
The Chairman said the platform would have NiDCOM, First Bank and the developer onboard as well as a system to authenticate the land or property before payment is made.
The theme for this year is ‘ Optimizing Formidable Diaspora Potentials for National Development’ , adding that diasporas are one of Nigeria’s greatest exports yet largely under exploited.
She said a team of 25 Africa Americans already arrived the country to take part in the celebration that has sparked global interest.
While listing NiDCOM’s achievements, Dabiri-Erewa said diaspora focal officers are in place in the 36 states across the country to deepen and drive diaspora engagement. Other programs in place structured to deepen structured diaspora engagement include the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit and the Diaspora Data Mapping that is on.
The Local Organizing Committee Chairman, Abiodin Akanbi who shed light on the program of events said the event will kick off on Friday 2 pm, while a youth empowerment on STEM will hold on Saturday, as well as the merit awards .
This year’s event is expected to host 1200 participants physically with thousands joining online.
