Akoko Edo APC Leaders Pass Vote of Confidence on Gov.Okpebholo

The Leaders of Akoko-Edo All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed optimism that the party is destined for victory as we approach the 2027 Presidential Election.

A statement by Julius Ajayi Chief press secretary to the council Chairman Akoko-Edo he Leaders disclosed this in an enlarged leadership meeting at the residence of the member Representing Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Peter Akpatason in Unemeh-Nekhua on July 19th, 2025.

Addressing party members, the Local Government party Chairman, Hon. Monday Oseh, implored the leaders of the party to discuss the way forward and strengthen the unity of the party based on the current happenings politically at the State and Nation at large as we approach the 2027 General Elections.

The member Representing Akoko-Edo Constituency II in the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Donald Okogbe commended the effort of the Local Government party Chairman for calling for the meeting at the appropriate time. “This is my first official meeting since I moved from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join the APC. Thank God I moved before the Supreme Court judgement between our Governor and the PDP flag bearer, Barrister Asue Ighodalo. We must be united as a party to ensure we deliver Mr President,  Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027”. He added.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Executive Chairman of the Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Alabi Bliss Oshionogue, popularly known as Akpakomiza Junior, commended the way and manner in which the party Chairman is piloting the affairs of the party and emphasized the directives of the state leadership under  Senator Monday Okpebholo, and Senator Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole’s message of fostering the unity of the party.

“We must not discriminate amongst ourselves, especially as we approach the 2027 presidential election. The Governor of the state has several times stated that Edo must deliver overwhelmingly for Mr President,  Bola Ahmed Tinubu; as such, we have to ensure that we are united to achieve that because All Progressives Congress is destined for victory. At the Council level, we will always do our best to complement the efforts of the party leaders. He commended and appreciated leaders of the party both present and those represented at the meeting for the resounding synergy among party members in Akoko-Edo”. He added.

While fielding comments from attendees, Rt. Hon. Oloruntoba Bamidele, former Member of Edo State House of Assembly, Constituency II emphasized on the unity of the party and advised that the party at the local government level remains focused to bringing dividends of democracy to the local government from the state and federal at large as a local government that produced the highest votes in the state for the Governor in the last Gubernatorial Election.

In her contributions, the party’s Woman Leader, Mrs. Gloria Gomina, stressed and appreciated the importance of capturing women in the scheme of things as she disclosed that women play a vital role before, during and after elections. She assured that with the support of other women leaders and stakeholders at the ward and local government level, she will continue to put in her best to deliver to the party.

Rt. Hon. Peter Akpatason, while also commending the party Executives under the leadership of Hon. Monday Oseh, said they have performed beyond expectations in keeping the party united. He also encouraged the Council Chairman not to relent on his developmental drive of the local government and his relationship with leaders of the party. He hailed the women leaders of the party for not relenting in their activities to strengthen the party. He appealed that party members should not keep grievances in the interest of the party and the re-election of President Ahmed Tenibu.

The meeting had in attendance various ward leaders from the ten wards and current and past political office holders. A vote of confidence was passed on the Governor, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his performance so far, while calling on him to give priority to Akoko-Edo in terms of development and other benefits.
