IDGC 2025: Edgerley Old Girls Association,Unity Chapter Distributes Sanitary Pads, Pep Talks to GGSS Dutse

Old students of Edgerley Memorial Girls Secondary Calabar resident in Abuja under the Unity Chapter paid a visit to Government Girls Secondary School Dutse on Tuesday October 20, to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child.

The team led by the President of the Chapter Mrs Atim Ejike, ably represented by the Vice-President Dr Egan Effiong delivered a series of talks to the students on the theme of this year’s event: The Girl I am, the Change I lead, Girls on the Front lines of crisis and other topics like Time like, Effect of dropping out of school by the President Emeritus Ubong Ate, mental health by Mimi Umoh , sexually transmitted diseases by Agnes and the effects of spending too much time on gadgets by Francisca Ogar.

In her talk on the theme, the Vice President urged the girls to cultivate the culture of speaking out and making themselves visible.

According to her, the girl child is special and endowed with qualities that should not be hidden but expressed and explored.

The highlight of the event was the distribution of sanitary pads to the elated students.

Other Old girls on the team included Mary George, Rose Ofu, Idara Akwaowo,Arit Obitor,Inem and Dolly.

The Old girls had on Friday the previous week visited GSS Apo where a similar event with distribution of sanitary pads was also carried out by a team led by the President of the chapter,Mrs Atim Ejike.
