PGF Information Commissioners Elects Erasmus Secretary

…Charts new course for strategic communication, endorses national value reorientation drive

Cross River State Commissioner for Information, Dr Erasmus Ekpang has emerged secretary of the Progressives Governors Forum Information Commissioners at meeting in Maiduguri, Borno State.

This follows the Forum’s reaffirmation of its commitment to strategic coordination, evidence-based communication, and value-driven governance across All Progressives Congress (APC)-governed states, a resolution that  emerged from the PGF Quarterly Strategy Meeting of Commissioners for Information, held from October 15 to 16, 2025, at the Borno State Government House, Maiduguri.

The theme of the meeting which brought together Information Commissioners from APC-controlled states to assess progress, share innovations, and enhance the impact of government communication efforts. was “FGN–PGF Synergy 2025: One Message, One Future” .

White commending the leadership and vision of Progressive Governors, they noted that their policy choices and strategic investments are improving governance and citizens’ welfare. They further pledged continued support in amplifying the achievements of APC-led administrations and sustaining a unified communication front across the federation.

The meeting emphasized the strengthening of synergy between the Federal Government and the Progressive Governors’ Forum as a strategic platform for policy alignment, joint implementation, and shared progress in addition to receiving and endorsing  the PGF National Value Reorientation Campaign which they described as a critical instrument for restoring civic responsibility, patriotism, and ethical consciousness among Nigerians.

They also resolved to domesticate the proposed National Value Reorientation Charter through community-level advocacy and state-driven partnerships.

Furthermore, the Forum agreed to adopt a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework with measurable indicators for communication outcomes, ensuring data-driven reporting and regular documentation of best practices across APC states.

Arising from the meeting, the following were elected as leaders of the Forum of Honourable Commissioners for Information of APC-Governed States:

Chairman: Prof. Usman Tar (Hon. Commissioner for Information, Borno State)

Secretary: Dr. Erasmus Ekpang (Hon. Commissioner for Information, Cross River State)

Communication & Public Engagement: Ahmed Maiyaki (Hon. Commissioner for Information, Kaduna State)

The meeting expressed appreciation to His Excellency, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno State, for hosting the Strategy Meeting and for the exceptional hospitality extended to delegates. It also acknowledged the participation of the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, and commended the PGF Secretariat for its excellent coordination and steadfast support.

The  next quarterly strategy meeting was scheduled for Abuja in the first quarter of 2026.
