NiMet Urges Caution as Dust Haze Anticipated in Northern and Central states.

Nigeria Meteorological Agency NiMet has predicted thick dust haze with visibility of less than or equal to 1 km in the north and central parts of Nigeria while in the southern region, moderate dust haze is expected on Sunday Jan 11 2026.
An advisory made available to our correspondent says Lagos and other coastal towns are expected to experience sunny skies and record thunderstorms with light rain.

On Monday January 12 however, the northern region is expected to witness moderate haze with visibility of 2 to 5 km while the central region is to expect thick dust with visibility of less than or equal to 1 KM.
Hinterlands are to expect a moderate dust while Sunny skies are expected in the coastal region.

Due to the dust particles which are in suspension the public is advised to take necessary precaution.

The advisory further says people with Asthmatic health condition and other respiratory issues should be cautious of the present weather condition while airline operators are advised to get airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from NiMet .
