The delegation included the team’s co-conveners, Engr. Dr Jerome Egbe, KSM, Barrister Ekpeyong Akiba and Barrister Gilbert Agbor, alongside other members. The visit, according to the group, was aimed at strengthening collaboration with the state government and reaffirming its commitment to promoting ideas and actions that place Cross River State first.

Speaking during the visit, the Think Cross River Team commended the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, for what they described as his consistent and deliberate efforts to recover the state’s oil wells, protect its economic interests and pursue policies that prioritise the welfare of the people. They noted that the Governor’s leadership reflects a clear resolve to “think Cross River” in decision-making and governance.

The team further praised the Otu administration for its people-centred approach to governance, highlighting key strides made under the People First Agenda. These include renewed attention to infrastructure development across urban and rural communities, improved workers’ welfare and the regular payment of salaries, deliberate investments in security to safeguard lives and property, and initiatives aimed at reviving the state’s economy and restoring public confidence in government.

Other areas commended by the group include the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, engagement with stakeholders, youth empowerment initiatives, and efforts to reposition Cross River State as a destination for investment, tourism and sustainable development.

In response, Hon. Dr Emmanuel Ironbar expressed appreciation for the visit and the confidence reposed in him, describing the Think Cross River platform as a timely initiative that aligns with the Governor’s vision for the state. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to transparent, accountable and people-focused governance.

The Think Cross River Team used the occasion to call on all Cross Riverians, at home and in the diaspora, to rally behind Governor Otu and support his selfless efforts to reposition the state. According to the group, collective support and shared responsibility are critical to achieving lasting development and securing a prosperous future for Cross River State.
