Election observers have decried the widespread voter apathy witnessed in the 2026 FCT Chairmanship and councillorship election.
Though most INEC officials arrived and set up in good time, as at 9:30 ,10 AM fewer than 10 percent of expected voters were at their polling unit
Election observers who spoke to us blamed it on poor sensitization and last moment change of polling units
Voters and presiding officers attested to a smooth and hitch free voting process.
Sen. Musa Aduda who spoke to Journalists after receiving the FCT Minister Barrister Nyesom Wike attested to the smooth process and stressed the need for more sensitization of voters.
He said it took him just 3 minutes to vote as compared to the last election where there was difficulty with accreditation.
At Angwan Bawa, Nyanya phase 2 primary school, a near altercation took place when a party agent alleged that there was vote buying and threatened to cause problems of it continued.
Responding, the APC supervisor Hon. Gabriel Oluohu debunked the allegation saying the APC had no budget for vote buying.

Voting ended by 2:30 in polling stations visited and officials were seen cancelling unused ballot papers.

As at 3: 35 results were already being brought from various polling units to the collation center at Government secondary school Nyanya Area E

The elections were largely peaceful and smooth, the prevalent challenge being that of difficulty locating new polling units by voters and election officials. Majority attested to the need for more sensitization before the next elections to prevent further voter apathy
