The Director General of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, on his return from china, has been quarantined for 14 days as part of measures to stop the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) from spreading into the country.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, made this known in Abuja while briefing the leadership of the Senate on efforts being made to stop the spread of the disease in Nigeria.
According to Ehanire said the DG had to be isolated in his residence since he just returned from China where he was a delegate for the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Wuhan, China to understudy the behavioral pattern of the COVID-19.
The Minister said that the 14-day isolation for the NCDC Boss is in line with established safety procedure against the Coronavirus.
He also told the Senate leadership on the efforts being made by the Federal Government to treat the confirmed case in Nigeria as well as prevent the disease from further spreading into the country.
