Elder statesman and politician Chief Edwin Clark has expressed support for the supreme court judgement on the status of the Federal Capital Territory arising from the petitions over the results of the last general elections.

Chief Clark who spoke while receiving a delegation of the South South Diamond Ladies led by Lady Victoria said it would have been setting a dangerous precedence if Abuja was given a superior status to other states.
He also applauded the decision to take all election cases from the North to Abuja and those from the South to Lagos State.

Chief Clark however called on INEC to use the opportunity of the off cycle elections to redeem its image which he said had dropped in the eyes of Nigeria based on the conduct of the general elections.
He further faulted the Supreme Court for not saying anything about INEC failing to use the technology it promised to use for the elections which he said had affected the trust of Nigerians.




On her part Lady Victoria Egelege,leader of the South South Diamond Ladies while appreciating the elder statesman for his exemplary leadership and mentorship for the people of the South South over the years, assured him that the vision of the group is in consonance with the values he represents as the group through its empowerment programme will reach out to vulnerable children, youths and women to better their life, especially those from the South South.




Also speaking the media officer of the group , Francisca Ogar poured encomiums on Chief Clark for his role in ensuring national unity as well as his philanthropy through his foundation. She said the group look up to him as a role model and will strive to build on the foundation and example he has set as true daughters of the South South.
