Reports reaching us say a petition is to be forwarded to the Disciplinary Committee of the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) against two senior lawyers, Ken Mozia and Oluwole Iyamu, who were hired by the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki to represent an opposing side in a case against the Governor’s interest.
The 4th Defendant in the case, Chief Dan Orbih, who is the PDP South South Vice Chairman is a political opponent of Obaseki.

According to our source, from court papers sighted ,including the judgement on the preliminary objection, it was obvious that Mozia and Iyamu sought to represent Chief Orbih who they know to be their paymaster’s political opponent in a case where members of their team also represented the 2nd and 3rd Defendants.
Chief Orbih lawyers allegedly filed court papers to warn Mozia and Iyamu of the implications of this unprofessional act, known as Champerty, but they countered it, claiming that they were doing the case pro bono.
In the ruling of the Judge, the name of the 4th Defendant, who was sued in his official capacity as PDP South South Vice Chairman was stuck out, including the court papers filed by Ken Mozia and Oluwole Iyamu, who until recently was Attorney General in Obaseki’s Government of Edo State.
